A/B split testing
You've done your research on the most effective strategies for email marketing, but does that information apply to your campaign? Because you're an enthusiastic email marketer, you've been tracking all of the reports and statistics, but things seem a little off. Why do statistics for each newsletter differ? It's especially odd considering that each newsletter is designed using the same template and style. If your open and click-through rates usually vary, GraphicMail can help you understand why.
Employ email split tests to explore what is working and not working within your email marketing strategy. In order to launch an email split test, you must first create two or more messages. Your email newsletters may be made with differing content, subject lines or style - you pick which area you'd like to test. Then send each newsletter to randomised, equal portions of your mailing list. When results from your test have returned, you have the option of sending the best received message to the remainder of the list. With A/B split tests, you don't have to wonder about the effectiveness of your email marketing campaign.
Here’s how:
There are two choices when using GraphicMail’s A/B split testing: You may either select 5 newsletters to compare - perhaps all with the same images, but each with a different content, or even slight changes in the design or content. (It isn't necessary to have 5 different newsletters, it's fine if you only do 2, 3 or 4 as well.) Or, you may test up to 5 of the same newsletter with different subject lines; they may be different in terms of length or tone. So, if you want to test your opens, choose different subject lines for your test, and, if you'd prefer to test clicks in a newsletter, send test newsletters with a different message content and links.
After you've selected your testing preferences, you can choose a percentage of your mailing list to test it on. Here's how it'll work after you've made these decisions: say you have chosen to send the test to 20 % of your mailing list and you want to compare 2 newsletters, then 10 % will receive Newsletter A and 10 % will receive Newsletter B. GraphicMail's reports and statistics will show you which one was more successful, so you can send the "winning" newsletter to the remaining 80% of your mailing list. And don’t fret: The system will remember who received the first newsletter, or test, and who received which version – so none of your subscribers will receive your newsletter twice! Last but not least, you’ll receive a statistical report for your tested newsletters in a cool pop – up stats table in your account.
